Kujuteldav
kaaslane on psühholoogiline ning sotsiaalne fenomen, mille aluseks on
suhe, mis leiab aset mitte füüsilises reaalsuses, vaid inimese enda subjektiivses reaalsuses. Tegu on fiktiivsete karakteritega, kellel on tihti
Minu roll siin on
kaasaegse fotograafia ning fotomanipulatsiooni abil mõtestada mänglevalt
lahti kujuteldavate olevuste olemus ning tuua need olendid
teispoolsusest meie ilma. Kõik kollaažid põhinevad tõsielulistel
sündmustel.

An imaginary friend is a psychological and social fenomenon which is based on a relationship that is based not in physical reality, but in a person's subjective realtity. Imaginary friends are fictive characters who often have a complex personality and behavior patterns. This research and art project looks into these strange characters. My role here is to interpret the characters i've heard stories about and bring them into our world using the means of photography and photo collage. All the pictures below are based on real-life events.

vahepeal. Kuigi tal ei olnud suud, silmi ega kõrvu, suutis ta last
näha ning temaga vestelda. Koos peeti maha pikki jutuajamisi, ning
Kobakäpp pajatas lugusid oma pikkadest rännakutest kaugetesse
paikadesse. Lapse jaoks sai Kobakäpa nimest õppimise, tarkuse ning
teadmisjanu sünonüüm.
Kobakäpp (Stumblepaw) was a foot. He resembled a real human foot, which begins a little bit below the hip and moves as if connected to an invisible body. Stumblepaw befriended a boy who told me this story. He appeared to him always at bedtime before falling asleep in the magical world between sleep and wakefulness. Although he had no mouth, eyes or ears he could see the child and talk to him. They had long talks, and Stumblepaw told stories of his long travels to faraway places. For the child, his name became a symbol of learning, wisdom and the thirst for knowledge. The child (now a grown up) said he didn't remember playing with the character a lot.

Toni was a small invisible boy, who was friends with a real boy. Together they played around an old well when Toni got a whimsical thought. He ran across the well hatch and started saying that the real boy had no guts to do the same. The real boy didn't want to look like a wuss so he took the test of courage. Neither of them thought about the fact that Toni had no body, which made walking across the well completely harmless to him. The real boy had a body, though, and as he stepped on the hatch he suddenly fell in. Deep into the well. He was saved in a miraculous way, but after this he did not wish to play with Toni again. The friendship was ended. It must be said, though, that like a child he was, Toni meant no harm - it was definitely an unfortunate accident.

Lombiloomad
Ka teised pereliikmed said tegelasi
silitada.
The Puddle Creatures were born from one child's untameable wish to play in puddles. When the scolding of parents (who were despaired by the endless stream of muddy clothes) didn't do anymore, the parents made up a story about these hairy terrible creatures, that live in puddles. The child, contrary to the parent's intentions of course, was completely thrilled by the tale, so the story became reality. He took to saving to the creatures, bringing them home in front of the fire to dry them, pet them and later set them free again. All the other family members got to pet them as well. The boy, now grown up, confided that the Puddle Creatures never went away and still appear during rainy days.

Mustmiljon kaaslast
Igal inimesel leidub peas kuuldavasti
miljoneid neid väikseid naljakaid karaktereid. Ühel tüdrukul oli
neid ainult kuus, ning see ajas teda hirmsasti endast välja.
Nekkers were hyperactive tiny characters who lived on people's heads. They were funny creatures, a couple of millimeters tall, they ran around in hair and slept in caves of locks. Sometimes they fell off from the heads. When this happened the child who saw them stopped everything around so the lonely Nekker could get back on her head. She said that everyone has millions of these little humorous characters on their heads. Her sister had only six, which made her totally sad all the time.

Kolm kaitsevaimu
Valge koll, Must koll ja Pema olid ühe
pere laste kolm kaitsevaimu. Olles vanad hinged, ei laskunud nad
lastega kunagi ühisesse mänguhoogu, vaid lihtsalt viibisid alati
nende lähedal, lapsi valvates ja kaitstes. Pema oli neist kõige
jutukam, Valge ja Must koll käisid tal muudkui sabas.
salatarkusi.
White monster, Black monster and Pema were the three guardian spirits of one family. They were old souls and never played with the children, just stayed near them and watched them serenely. Pema was the most talkative, White and Black monster were trailing him all the time. Nobody remembers what they talked about, but it is told that they said super weird things and taught the children secret knowledges.

Vetevaimu kodu
toonile. Temaga sai seigelda ja mängida ja niisama pikutades pilvi
vaadata. Pikkjärvel, mille ääres Vesenki elutses, oli maagiliselt
paindlik olemus – nimetatud järveks võis saada ükskõik milline
suur või väike veekogu.
Vesenki was an enchanting elflike creatures, who lived in a beautiful moss lake near a lake. As the water spirit, his job was to keep the lake clean. Vesenki's eyes were the same colour as the lake's water, and changed with it. He was a playmate and adventurer and a good companion to look at the clouds with. The lake which banks Vesenki dwelled have a magical quality - any large or small body of water may become this lake.
